General skills with video converter

You don't need a clear understanding about all video formats and ways of their decoding if you're not determined to be a professional video editor and work for Perter Jackson. There is no need for too many video converters on your computer as well because some of them share similar functions so you can do two things with just one simple software. Video formats:

MP4___Generally speaking, there are not that too much video formats that are common used. AVI__Another common video format is avi, strictly speaking, avi is a way of decoding rather than video format. Because there are so many people take it as a video format so it's ok no matter how you look at it. Because of its way of decoding various according to different users, so being unable to decode a video when you are trying to play it is a really common thing. Avi video files has large size and are about to be abaunded.


WMV__This video format was first released by microsoft company. Compared with files in other formats who shares a same picture quality, wmv file is much smaller, so it's widely used to spread videos on the web. Mediaplayers supported WMV like Zune is very good.


FLV___ Flv is the commonest video formats on the web, especailly for some video sharing website like youtube and other flash sharing website. It has very small video size and the speed of decoded is fast too. However, flv files always have very bad picture quality so more and more usage of flv are replaced by other video formats.


3GP___3gp is a video format developed from mp4, because of limited space on mobilphone, 3gp is developed to allow users store more video files on their cellphones. With the out-coming of smartphones, the position of 3gp seems to fall in a fast rate.


There are some other video formats like MPEG, VOB and MKV that are not that popular on the web now. So more information about those things will be introduced in the following days.


As for DVD and Blu ray, there are no default video formats about them, which means their particular ways of decoding make it unable to identify which video format a dvd or blu ray disc is in. However, it doesn't matter in your burning converting things. So... let's just jump over it.
